PUSH UP COUNTER

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

1. About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Push Up Counter: AI Rep Count ("Push Up Counter", the name on your home screen) handles information when you use it. Push Up Counter is an Android app that counts exercise repetitions with your phone's front camera or by tap, runs workouts in sets with a rest timer, and keeps your training log, daily goal, streak and programs. It works offline, needs no account, shows no ads, and does not ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos, microphone or location. It uses the camera only to count your reps, as described below.

2. Your camera and your workouts stay on your device

Push Up Counter does its counting on your device. The developer has no server that could receive your camera images, your workouts or your settings.

  • Camera. While a camera workout (or the trial set during onboarding) is on screen, the app passes low-resolution images from the front camera to Google's on-device pose detection (section 3). It finds the positions of your joints (such as shoulders, elbows, hips and knees) in each image, the app turns them into joint angles to count reps and draws a skeleton over the live preview, and the image is discarded right away. The app takes no photos or videos, stores no camera images or body positions, and sends none of them anywhere. The live preview is shown only on your screen.
  • Workouts. For each workout, the app keeps the exercise, the start and end time and the program day (if any). For each set it keeps the reps, the target, the duration, whether it was counted by camera or by tap, and the rest time. Your daily goal, streak, personal records and charts are worked out from these on your device.
  • How much history is shown. Without Premium, History shows the last 7 days. Older workouts stay stored on your device, hidden, and show again with Premium. Hidden workouts are never deleted automatically.
  • Programs. If you use a program (Premium), the app keeps its settings (exercise, starting level, goal and training days) and the day you have reached.
  • Your answers. Your onboarding answers (goal, how many push-ups you can do, training days) are kept on your device to suggest your daily goal and program.
  • Voice counting. When voice counting is on, the app passes the count numbers and short hints (such as "Go lower") to the text-to-speech engine chosen in your Android settings, which speaks them.
  • CSV export. If you export your workouts (Premium), the app writes a CSV file only where you choose to save it, using Android's file picker. What happens to that file afterwards is up to you.
  • Settings. Your voice, beep, countdown, rest, counting sensitivity, tap counting, theme and language choices, together with app state such as whether you have seen the placement guide, review timing and your active Premium plan, are stored on your device.
  • Backup. If Android backup is turned on, your workouts, programs, answers and settings can be part of your own device backup, which Google stores for your Google account under its own policies. The developer has no access to it.

3. Pose detection (Google ML Kit)

Push Up Counter finds your body position with ML Kit Pose Detection, a Google library that runs inside the app. The images it analyses are processed fully on your device and are never sent to Google or anyone else.

Like every ML Kit feature, the library sends Google usage metrics about how the pose detection runs: device information (manufacturer, model, Android version and available machine-learning hardware), the app's package name and version, performance and configuration data (such as processing time, image size, feature version and error codes) and a per-installation identifier that is not meant to identify you or your device. Google uses this data for diagnostics and usage analytics of ML Kit, sends it over encrypted connections and does not transfer it to third parties. These metrics never include images, body positions, rep counts or workouts. The library may also contact Google servers from time to time to receive things like bug fixes and hardware compatibility information. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app resets the per-installation identifier.

4. Purchases (Google Play)

Premium is sold through Google Play as a one-time purchase (lifetime) or as a monthly subscription that starts with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Google Play handles the payment: Push Up Counter never receives your card or other payment details. To unlock Premium, the app asks Google Play on your device which Push Up Counter purchases and subscriptions your Google account owns, and it stores only whether Premium is active and which plan it is. Google Play gives the developer order records (such as an order number, the product, the price, the date and the country) for accounting, tax, refunds and support. Google describes how it handles your purchase in the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play Terms of Service.

5. Ratings and reviews

After you have completed a few workouts, Push Up Counter may show Google Play's in-app review card when you finish a workout summary, at most once every 30 days. Your rating and review go to Google Play under your Google account; Push Up Counter does not receive them and does not know whether you left one.

6. No ads, analytics or crash reports; support emails

Push Up Counter shows no ads and contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDK. The developer does not track how you use the app, and your workouts are never sent to analytics or any server. Apart from the ML Kit metrics in section 3, the app sends nothing off your device. If this changes in a future version, this policy will be updated before that version is released. When you choose Settings → Send feedback, your email app opens a draft that includes the app version, Android version, device model and app language so we can help you; you can edit or delete these lines before sending. We use your email only to answer you.

7. Permissions

Push Up Counter asks for one permission while you use it:

  • Camera (CAMERA): requested during onboarding, after a page that explains why, or when you start a camera workout without it. It is used only to count reps as described in sections 2 and 3. If you decline, you can count every set by tap and every other feature keeps working; you can allow the camera later in Android's app settings.

Its Android manifest also declares these, which Android grants at install:

  • Internet and network state: for Google Play purchases and ML Kit's usage metrics. The app makes no network requests of its own.
  • Google Play billing (BILLING): for purchases.
  • Keep awake, run at startup and foreground service (WAKE_LOCK, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, FOREGROUND_SERVICE): added by Android's job scheduling library and Google's data transport library, which ML Kit uses to send its metrics in batches. Push Up Counter has no background features of its own and shows no notifications. Keeping the screen on during a workout is a display setting, not a background feature.
  • An internal permission (DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION) that only Push Up Counter can hold. Android's support library uses it to protect the app's own messages.

The app has no storage, photo, microphone, location, contacts, body sensor, activity recognition, Health Connect, notification or advertising ID permission.

8. Children

Push Up Counter is a general-audience fitness app for teenagers and adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will help you.

9. Retention, security and deletion

Workouts, programs, answers and settings stay on your device until you delete them in the app, clear the app's storage or uninstall Push Up Counter. Deleting a workout also deletes its sets. ML Kit's usage metrics are kept by Google under its own policies, and purchase records by Google Play. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may ask for access to or deletion of personal information processed on our behalf by writing to the contact below; we reply within 30 days and forward the request to the relevant provider. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, but Push Up Counter does not store personal information on its own servers, and the Google services it uses send data over encrypted connections.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Push Up Counter's features or data practices change. The updated policy will show a new date on this page.

11. Contact

For privacy questions or requests, contact the Push Up Counter developer at [email protected].

Terms of Use

By downloading or using Push Up Counter you agree to these terms. The developer grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Do not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app except as allowed by law.

Premium. Premium unlocks squats, sit-ups, jumping jacks and pull-ups, programs, stats and personal records, form tips, the full history and CSV export. It is available as a one-time purchase (lifetime) or as a monthly subscription, at the prices Google Play shows before you pay. The monthly subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel it in Google Play; after you cancel, Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial: if you cancel during the trial you are not charged, otherwise the first monthly payment is taken when the trial ends. Refunds follow Google Play's refund policies. Premium belongs to the Google account that bought it: use Settings → Restore purchases on another device.

Counting is automatic, not perfect. Camera counting estimates your body position from the image and counts a rep after a full movement. It counts most reliably in good light, with your whole body in view and a plain background; it can miss or, rarely, add a rep, and you can correct the count by tap. Programs, daily goals and form tips are general training guidance, not personal coaching.

Exercise safely. Push Up Counter is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. Exercise is at your own risk: warm up, stop if you feel pain, dizziness or shortness of breath, and talk to a doctor before you start an exercise routine if you have a health condition, an injury or are pregnant. Make sure the place where you train and put your phone is safe and clear.

Push Up Counter is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for injuries, indirect or consequential damages, lost data, or interruptions caused by your device, operating system or store. We may update the app or these terms; continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, without limiting consumer rights you have in your country.

Support

Need help? Email [email protected]. Settings → Send feedback fills in your app version, Android version and device model for you; the version is also shown at the bottom of Settings.

Where to put the phone. The camera has to see your whole body, head to feet, about 1.5 to 2 m (5 to 6 ft) away. For push-ups and sit-ups, stand the phone on its side on the floor so it sees you from the side. For squats, stand it upright on the floor or a low shelf, side view. For jumping jacks, stand it upright and face the phone. For pull-ups, lean it upright on the floor in front of the bar, a step away from where you land, looking up at you. The help button on the workout screen shows the placement guide again.

Reps are missed. Train in good light, with your whole body in the picture and a plain background behind you; fitted clothes help. If the screen says to move back or to show your whole body, counting is paused until the camera sees you again. Go through the full movement: a rep counts only after you go all the way down and back up. Strict counting (Settings → Counting sensitivity) counts only deep reps; Normal is more forgiving. Tap the count to add a rep, or long-press it to remove one.

Count by tap. Without the camera, or when you prefer it, choose tap counting in the workout setup, or make it the default in Settings → Count by tap.

No voice. Voice counting uses your phone's text-to-speech engine. Check Settings → Voice counting and your media volume. If your phone has no voice for the app's language, it counts in English, or with beeps when no text-to-speech engine is installed. You can install voices in Android's settings (Text-to-speech output).

Camera permission. If you declined it, allow it in Android's settings (Apps → Push Up Counter → Permissions → Camera). Devices without a front camera use the back camera; then face the screen away from you.

Premium, trial and restore. Premium is linked to your Google account. On a new phone, sign in with the same Google account and use Settings → Restore purchases. To cancel the monthly subscription or the free trial, use Settings → Manage subscription, or Google Play → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.

Delete your data. Delete a workout from its detail screen in History, or clear the app's storage or uninstall Push Up Counter to delete everything it keeps on your device. For anything else, email us with the subject "Delete my Push Up Counter data".
